How's your day?

How's your day?

You decide the way your day is going to unfold the moment you wake up. Sure, there are some days that you may think, "Gee, I'm having a great day" and something goes wrong, but I'm not talking about those random days, I'm talking about your typical day.

Think about it, have you ever had one of those days where you had a lot to do, made a schedule the night before, prepared yourself for the day and left nothing for the last minute, and that really busy day turned out to be great? You're energized, you get things done, you're on a roll!

Perfect example: I had a long work day, had to find a moment to get to the bank, had scheduled my book club #NerdAlert, I really wanted to find an hour to get to the gym and I had a bunch of little things in between to get done.

So the night before, I decided to make my breakfast, lunch, and dinner ready so all I had to do is grab it out of the fridge in the morning. I packed my gym bag with work clothes, a towel and shower necessities so that I can go to the gym in the morning and go straight to work from there. By going to the gym in the morning, I would be able to utilize my lunch time and about a half hour after work to get my other stuff done and then I can head straight to my book club!

All this required me to be up at 5:30 am and ready to go.

First thought, "UGH, do I really want to get up at 5:30 in the morning and get my day started? I have so much to do..maybe I can skip the gym..Blah Blah Blah"

I then stopped myself from thinking all the negative thoughts and said..

"Just do it, stop thinking so much"

and then I took my own advice.

That day, I had a GREAT day. I was energized after the gym, I had packed enough food to not be starving because I thought it through the night before and because I had planned everything so precisely, I was able to get everything done on my to do list.

Fast forward to the next day….

I decided, I don't have much to do. I allowed myself to sleep in, I didn't pack my meals and I didn't pack my bags because "I had time to get it done in the morning".

I started my day off sluggish and continued to feel sluggish ALL DAY.

I lazily got out of bed, slowly put my gym bag together and my lunch box and then I decided I'll just grab some coffee/breakfast on my way to work.

Now, this is NOT the first time I've done that, but that day I realized how different my body felt. Nothing changed from day to day except my attitude and my actions.

So, what did you get from the story above? (True story I promise!)

Hopefully you got this out of it.

Make a game plan, not just for one day, make a game plan for every day, week & year. Now, I'm not saying obsess over schedules because that cannot be healthy for your mind and stress levels. But, in life you will have things you have to do, things you want to go, goals you have set, etc.

Write everything down.

Make a schedule. Making a schedule doesn't mean it's set in stone and you can't stray from it and switch it up, it just gives you some guidance when planning out your day.

For example:

First, write down the things you have to do. These things include work, doctor appointments, meetings you have to attend, etc.

Second, consider your goals, both long and short term. Goals can include going to the gym, working on your personal brand, sticking to your new year resolutions, etc.

Third, schedule things you want to do, like grab dinner and drinks with friends, go see a movie, spend time on the coach. Pretty much 1 thing a day that makes you happy. Something to look forward to.

Last, get a physical day planner, or you can use an app if that works better for you. Plug everything into it, either in advance if you have a set plan or the day before, and then stick to it. This will help your day run smoother and reduce stress caused by a busy schedule and a scattered mind.

Final takeaway…

Take control of your mind, day and LIFE.

Hope you all have a Kickass Day!
